Why Jordan Davis Wants ‘Crazy Talented’ Usher

Jordan Davis plans a surprise performance at the CMA Awards with Usher. Davis, 35, exclusively tells Us Weekly, “I’m a massive Usher fan,” while discussing his part in Crown Royal’s Bunker Labs and CMA Awards connection. The sixth-year program aids veterans and their families.

Davis will sing at the 2023 ceremony on November 8 at Nashville’s Bridgestone Area and run for several wards. A country classic medley will feature Post Malone, HARDY, and Morgan Wallen. Malone, 28, isn’t the first country performer to come to mind despite his Johnny Cash tattoo. Davis chose the R&B star for a hypothetical CMA jam session when asked which “country adjacent” star.

Davis says, “I didn’t do this on purpose, but my last tour stop was in Vegas during Usher’s residency. I attended Usher’s residency night.”

Usher rocks fashion. The Grammy winner’s style matches his voice. Consider 2023 Paris Fashion Week. Several shows featured the artist’s ovation-worthy outfits. Usher looked amazing in a Chanel tweed blazer.

Due to his distinctive sound, Usher, 45, got his first huge success “when I was starting to explore other genres outside of whatever my dad was listening to.” Usher was my seventh/eighth grade crush, but the first guy was a vocal powerhouse. That’s my guy.”

Usher may join Davis. Usher covered Blake Shelton’s “Neon Light” and “Home” at United Way of Dallas’ 90th anniversary in 2015, according to Rolling Stone. Shelton’s Healing in the Heartland Benefit earned millions for disaster victims, and the duo sang “Home”.

Shelton and Usher are humanitarians like Davis. His Crown Royal invitation to this year’s CMA Awards was exceptional.

Davis said: “I care about Crown Royal’s military and veteran support. The military has been significant to my family since both my grandpas served and my cousin was a Marine. Always told troops to do what I couldn’t.”

Davis eagerly joined Crown Royal’s CMAs bid. Davis and the whisky company hosted Bunker Labs veterans for the Purple Bag Project before the event, turning their bags into warrior care presents. Wednesday’s awards event will include Crown Royal’s live integration with Davis and Bunker Labs, a nonprofit that helps military veterans and spouses start businesses.

Looking good! Luke Bryan, Dustin Lynch, Brian Kelley, and others lit up the 2022 Country Music Association Awards. Bryan, 46, hosted the November 9 ceremony alongside Peyton Manning in a Tom Ford black tuxedo.

Davis will honor Bunker Labs CEO Blake Hogan the “That Deserves a Crown” for military accomplishments. Later, Crown Royal’s Generosity Month continues.

Bunker Labs’ Davis says, “To see these servicemen and women continue to serve is truly a selfless act that I think we can’t adequately thank you for. Thanks to the Crown Royal for inviting me.

After Folds of Honour and Ryan Seacrest Foundation, Davis’ third charity is Crown Royal Alliance. He credits appreciation for this humanitarianism. “I think a lot of it is just realising how blessed I am to do what I do, “he says. Even suggesting I write and play songs professionally is ludicrous. That’s absurd.”

He further explains, “Everyone has the ‘want’ to help. I think my mom taught me that early. I was doing this before the music, but now I know how vital it is for us—artists, public figures, etc.—to signal that [helping the needy] is crucial. Take every chance to ameliorate a bad situation. I hope I can do what I always wanted.”

Davis said Kris Kristofferson and Willie Nelson influenced him.

Young musicians desire to emulate such stars’ songwriting, performing, and off-stage antics. The giving nation prospers.”

Davis had a great year. He released Bluebird Days in February, his second album after Home State in 2018. The second hit, “Next Thing You Know,” reached No. 23 on the Billboard Hot 100 and is a country radio mainstay. He won his second straight CMA Song of the Year nomination after winning with Luke Bryan in 2022 for “But Dirt”.

“Next Thing You Know” may win Song, Single, and Music Video of the Year at the CMA Awards, which Davis is excited to perform. “Honored to be nominated, always,” he says. He considers being “one of the finalists for any of those awards is such an honor” as this new generation of country musicians revives it.

“Winning Song of the Year last year was the coolest moment music has given me,” he adds. Davis is happy to win again, “to have my song noticed?” That wins.”

Despite his CMAs performance, Davis may do a “victory lap” to Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas to see Usher at the Super Bowl LVIII halftime show in February. Davis wants to see Vegas’ Halftime Show. “That was cool. After Dallas, see him again? The show is lively. He was one of the best vocalists I’ve seen in Vegas.”

In his absence, Davis will see Usher perform. I can say “Oh, yeah!” “I remember that from residency,” he laughs. “He was crazy talented.”
