Chris Evans may be retiring as Sexiest Man Alive, but we will always love him. Sexy 2022 saw the titleholder marry, release more hits, and spend lots of time with dog Dodger.

01| Chris Evans Named Sexiest Man Alive 2022
“My mom will be so happy,” Evans said after winning PEOPLE’s 2022 Sexiest Man Alive. “She’s proud of everything I do but this is something she can really brag about.”
In 42 years, the actor has established himself in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, championed rescue canines, and garnered many followers.
Though his Avengers costars, including fellow “Hollywood Chris” and former Sexiest Man Alive Chris Hemsworth, teased him, he utilized his title to encourage PEOPLE readers to vote in the midterms.
02| He Married!
Evans claimed he “absolutely” wants to marry and have children in his PEOPLE cover interview.
“I love the idea of tradition and ceremony, I had a lot of that in my life, so the idea of creating that, I can’t think of anything better,” said.
His modest Cape Cod wedding to Alba Baptista in early September was his first step.
“They got serious very quickly,” a source told PEOPLE. “He kept saying he knew she was the one.”
03| He released two projects
The actor released two films in 2023: the action-romance Ghosted with Ana de Armas and Pain Hustlers with Andy Garcia and Emily Blunt.
The film followed Blunt and Evans as pharmaceutical sales reps who manage pain, based on a New York Times Magazine story and book, Pain Hustlers: Crime and Punishment at an Opioid Startup.
“It was a role that I was excited to play because it was a real character,” he told GQ before the SAG-AFTRA strike.
04| Hanging with Dog Dodger and Other Cute Pups
Evans unexpectedly visited Animal Haven in New York City to promote dog adoption on National Dog Day in August 2023.
“There are literally thousands of dogs waiting to be adopted all across the country, just like my dog Dodger,” Evans began the video. He finished the clip puppy covered.
Evans and Dodger showed PEOPLE their Jinx dog food collaboration earlier this year. The actor couldn’t stop praising his dog.
“He’s straightforward. He’s honest. His only knowledge of me is that I’m his man “Evans remarked. “That’s refreshing. Something about him feels like a new soul, d I smile every time I see him.”
05| He Fulfilled Comic Con Fans’ Wishes
Evans smiled at his October 2023 New York Comic Con presentation and talked about his two “wonderful and beautiful” nuptials to Baptista in Portugal and the U.S.
“Wedding planning is hard. The actor noted at the event that marriage is exhausting. After that, we’ve been enjoying life and preparing for autumn, my favorite season. Now we’re just enjoying life and reflecting.”
